Hi guys first time on this site, just seeking some advice really.
My two year old son was 8 weeks prem (due to preeclampsia) he came along really well to be honest walked by 11 months starting saying words when he should then all of a sudden just stopped nothing! So he won’t say a word just moans when he wants something (kind of learned to gather what he wants). Feels like he Has literally gone into reverse. Stopped using cutlery always used his hand. He won’t interact with anyone other then me, my husband or his grandad, no children at all including his younger sister who is 4 months (he stopped talking before she arrived). He doesn’t stay still always bouncing, running and climbing, won’t play with toys really absolutely glued to peppa pig! (Bloody pig!) )3 doesn’t understand anything I say to him really, doesn’t see danger in the slightest! His appetite has gone really bad won’t eat anything other then crap! Which drives me insane because he loves fruit an veg now won’t touch it so gets constipated (he’s on movicol) he won’t adapt to a cup will still only use a baby bottle, never slept Through wakes up sometimes up to 10 times a night for a drink or lost his dummy, and always hides things under my sofas. It doesn’t bother me in a way, I love him just the way he is just wondering if any of you have been through similar an could give me some tips on how to bring him along.
Sorry for really long post appreciate you reading thank you. Have a lovely Christmas and hopefully a better new year.

Hello and welcome to the site.

All of that does sound a bit exhausting. It sounds like he could do with a bit of help from Speech & Language Therapy. You can self refer in most areas or you HV will be able to do this for you.

SALT will want him to have had a hearing test. Again you can self refer for this or you can ask your HV to do it while she's doing the referral for SALT.

It might be worth doing the mchat test before you speak to your HV too smile

You definitely need to have a chat with your health visitor. I had the same concerns recently (although not anymore) and they came out pretty fast to review my daughter's progress.

Thanks for replying. HV has given him his two year check up an has referred him to 3 different physicians, problem is I could be waiting up to a year due to covid!

That's good that you've already been referred. Do you know what referrals she has made?

Speech an language therapy, special needs pre school and I think a paediatric. I have got an appointment Christmas Eve with the neonatal team I’m assuming for his checkup with them also.

That all sounds very positive and that she's made the appropriate referrals.

If you know the name of the Paediatrician, it might be worth ruining their Secretary and saying that you are willing to take a cancellation appointment. You may get seen quicker that way.

That's no problem smile

If you have a look around, there's a SN section on here. It might be useful to ask what you can expect from the appointment with the Paediatrician, what to ask and what happens afterwards.
