Newborn breastfeeding a lot

My DD is 4 days old and breastfeeding is going well. A lot of the time she is wanting to feed every 45/1 hour for about 5 mins at a time. Is this normal? During the day she sleeps the most so feeds less during this time. My milk came in properly yesterday and she always seems satisfied after drinking so I'm assuming she's getting enough :)

Sounds normal and congratulations. Little and often is great. I think they say their tummies are the size of their fist, so tiny. Also breast milk is easier to digest than formula, so they need feeding a lot more often. Try to feed both sides at a feed if baby doesn't fall asleep. Try to get lots of rest, eat well and drink enough water. Sounds like you're doing great !

Congratulations on your new baby Flowers yes it’s completely normal, as PP said they have the tiniest tummies Smile she’s probably also enjoying getting comfort from nursing. Enjoy the cuddles!

It will probably be cluster feeding. Look it up on kellymom

Is baby falling asleep on the breast after 5 mins? 5 mins is quite a short time to feed for as a newborn (in my experience) and I would advise trying to keep them awake a bit more to see if they'll feed for longer, I used to gently blow on baby to wake them up a bit and see if they wanted to feed some more, what also works is gently stroking their cheek. It's normal they want to feed all the time but I'd see if you can get a bit of a longer feed out of them x
