I have a very strong willed 3.5 year old DD (and a 14 month old DS) and an really struggling to find appropriate discipline methods.
I've tried naughty chairs, sending to bedroom, bribery, removal of toys etc but nothing is working very well.
I'm sick of yelling and feeling negative.

Can anyone recommend any books by discipline experts?

I recommend No Bad Kids: Toddler Discipline Without Shame by Janet Lansbury. It’s a very different approach to conventional discipline techniques that you’ve mentioned. I have an 18 month old, so I’m aware I’ve not hit the heights of toddlerhood and all that entails yet but I love the approach. It makes me feel very calm and at ease with his crying, tantrums, “disobedience”. She’s got a great website and podcast too if you want to check them out before buying the book.

A bit old fashioned now, but I found Toddler Taming reassuring and practical. It's mainly about not expecting too much. Grin

I recently read The Gentle Discipline Book and found that really helpful.

Totally made me rethink my expectations of a 4 year old, why most common punishments aren’t effective and how to positively manage behaviour.
