Hello
I am looking for some reassurance. My 9 1/2 month old baby is still not responding to her name. I’ve googled this (knew I shouldn’t) but all I can see is threads that suggest autism.
She is very loving and enjoys cuddles so much so she sometimes can be clingy and doesn’t like being put down after being held. She does make eye contact with us and will smile back but she rarely will look at us when we want her to, she only tends to look at us when there’s no distractions about. But she definitely does look at us on and off throughout the day but never for long unless we have her in the higher chair and there’s less distractions.
She’s a very smiley baby at home and around us and people she knows however at baby groups she would rarely crack a smile. She would always join in with whatever the teachers are doing and never got upset or anything like that, she looked thoughtful rather than distressed but never the less she didn’t really ever smile at the classes. Obviously because of covid we’ve not been for sometime so she would have been about 7 months when we last went to a class.
She babbles on and off all day and has said “mama” a handful of times although I’m not sure contextually. Other than that she doesn’t say any other words and she only really properly started babbling constantly at about 8 months.
Should I be concerned or ha anyone else had a baby like this that hasn’t gone onto be autistic?
