Tantrums banging head on floor

Hi guys. My 22 month old son has ramped up the tantrum game lately. I can only assume lockdown has a part to play and he's frustrated. My main point is that when he has a tantrum he either throws himself backwards and whacks his head off the floor or drops to his knees and deliberately bangs his head on the floor. Has anyone had a toddler similar and successfully got them to stop this? Tantrums can be a part of life I get that but I'm just worried he will really hurt his head :-(

Yes, I think quite a few head bang at some point.

With mine, teaching them some signs helped as they could express themselves and the frustration became less. How's his speech now?

Also, I think how you deal with it helps too. With my first I just used to say "has that ever got you what you wanted?" and he'd stop. The second one was a bit more tricky, she had to be ignored completely or the tantrum coulda stopped for hours.

He understands most instructions but his speech is limited to a few words still. He definately under stands tone.

The speech does sound normal but it might be worth having a look at a progress checker

Mine did it but grew out of it once his language skills improved. Was not nice to watch- especially the time he did it on the tarmac driveway

That's must have been hard to watch Bums. After the first tine our DS did it he must have decided it hurt so used to fetch a cushion, out it in the floor then bang his head on that

He has always been a bit of a softy
