How much should 17 month old be talking?

My LO has just turned 17 months, he can only say a few words; mama, dada, bot bot (bottle), OK, ohhh dayyy (what's that) and that's about it! I've seen mixed things online about this so just wanted some insight :)

Sounds fine - about when my DSs started making intelligible words. They are now 10 and 12 ...

Yeh that sounds well on track Smile Asking 'what's that?' Is quite a sophisticated language skill and I'm not sure my 2YO has even done this that much. Language explosion normally happens at around 18MO and you'll have a much better idea of how her language is coming on by age 2 although from what you're saying I'm predicting she will be talking your ear off by then Grin
