2 year old doesn't leave me!

My 2 year (3 in July) hardly leaves me to play on his own. It's just the two of us and this started way before all the virus restrictions. He doesn't even go to his room unless it's with lots of encouragement and comes back asking me to go with him. He never leaves the bedroom in the morning to go to the living room (we live in a flat) and sometimes says he's scared. I give him lots of attention and hugs when he needs it just not sure how to help him. He just likes to be with me all the time and the only time he will keep himself busy is if I'm cooking or cleaning (even then he would sometimes come and ask if he can join). In odd places like his cousins house he can disappear for ages where he just goes off and plays with the kids but never at home. I'm not sure if it's just the fact that he wants someone to interact with and that he hates being alone because when someone comes round to visit us, he starts pulling their hand asking them to come and play!

This sounds very much like my DD OP. The only time she would be alone is if we ever put the TV on for her.

My DD is the same at 4, I'm feeling it so much at the mo it's driving me insane!

Wish she had a sister or brother but not sure if it would make it any better!

I think, unfortunately, it is quite normal for that age. It's probably a good herd instinct...but drives you nuts in the meantime. The best you can do is start him on a task and then, say, nip to another room and come back after a minute or so, and then slowly increase the time you're out of the room. Or try to cultivate an appreciation for screens!
