Hi, I have a 6 nearly 7 year old who is the eldest of 4, and lately he has started having outbursts which have got more and more regular.

Sometimes it's just random screaming as if he's trying to get attention but finding it funny, and now he's also starting randomly blurting our the S word.
We initially thought this was for attention but this morning he got up before everyone else and went downstairs to watch tv and as I heard the tv I woke up and heard him blurting out the S word.

Does anyone have any ideas at to what the issue\cause could be here please?

I know they're not in school right now, but had the teach ever mentioned anything?

It might sound extreme but possibly Tourette syndrome? Or he could just have learned a curse word and be using it like adults do. I curse to myself sometimes.

He did say something once in class, but it was before the Christmas holidays.

We were wondering if it's tourettes as there is no pattern to it, and it's just random when he screams out.
We did have a call from the school Senco the other day to see how he was getting on, but they just brushed it off as him being a typical boy.

We will have to wait until this current situation is sorted to try and get an appointment with the doctor to try and get someone to diagnose him.

We will have to wait until this current situation is sorted to try and get an appointment with the doctor to try and get someone to diagnose him.. You may not have to wait. Our GP is doing telephone snd video appointments. At least if you get a referral to a Paed, you’ll have less time to wait once isolation is over.
