Hi mum community,

I hope everyone is safe first of all! Tough times! My dd is turning 5mo and I wanted some help from experienced mums about:

1- webinars about weaning... any advice on good ones? Considering current situation, what would be a good one to attend - free or not...

2- baby food blender - any advice on which brand of blender is best?

Thank you very much!! Really hard to do weaning during a global pandemic!

I can’t answer your questions on webinars sorry, they just didn’t have those when mine were little Smile

As for the blender, I wouldn’t spend too much money. I just had a very basic stick blender for my first and my second was a total spoon refuser so a blender would have been a complete waste. Much better to spend your money on some long sleeved bibs and a cheap shower curtain for the floor Smile

Have you found the MN Weaning Section yet too? Smile

I am not sure about webinars, but I found instagram amazing! Weanin15 and srnutrition were my go to for weaning. So many ideas! I completely weaned my DD from information on instagram. Blender wise, I bought a £20 Russell Hobbs in argos. Worked perfectly. Only used it twice or three times to batch blend a few veggies as we went mostly with BLW (which is was very against at the start but my DD took to it like a duck to water). The internet has all you could need, but also try not to complicate it. It's not actually that complex. I just gave my DD what I was eating in basic form

@SqidgeBum

That last sentence is the best advice ever!!
I second not making it complicated. Baby ate pretty much what we did. Some baby led stuff to chew on, some purée, lots of yoghurt, lots of mashed potato and mashed carrot/swede.
Made my own prune purée by sieving tinned prunes and freezing in an ice cube tray. No need to blend, I tried and realised tinned prunes have stones in...oops.
I used a Kenwood miniature food processor that my mum used for me so it was 27years old. Did the job though.

Good luck, try not to worry about how much food gets eaten and how much gets played with. It gets messy too

Hi, I'm a first time mum to a 7 month old baby boy, and I'm struggling so much on what to do about weaning. Current I give him milk all day and a 'meal' around 6pm, with a yogurt or moose afterwards. I'm unsure of when to give more meals and what to give him. I'm so nervous/scared of him choking to the point I don't want to try anything that isn't blended. He hasnt got any teeth yet. Feel like I've been left all alone as due to the pandemic I haven't seen a health visitor for months. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you
