Tell me about your narcissistic parent's behaviour

Have been coming to terms that my mother has a narcissistic personality issue. I'm about to becoming a mother myself and I often think about things that happened to me as kid now, and it hasn't been very nice.

Keen to hear about what other people's crazy mother's do.

Here is mine:

- buys things for our baby, then uses the opportunity to tell me how it's probably not as good as what my mother in law can buy us, in order to get a reassuring response that what she has bought is good enough

- never happy about happy things happening to us (me and hubs) - for example, we just bought a new house and while everyone's response was - wow; congrats, thats amazing.. she replied back via text saying "ok"

- posts passive aggressive things on facebook - attachment as example

- martyring - we have moved to UK and have invited them to visit from australia for the birth. Mother's response "I'll have to work double shifts for a year to pay for this", meanwhile they have over a million aussie dollars saved for retirement. Now she's working double shifts every day and complaining about how tired she is...

List goes on... please share your stories!

If these seem trivial, there are other things, just didn't want to make a TL;DR post smile

I think I would reduce my contact with her. She doesn’t sound like she is very good for your Mental Health.

As for the passive aggressive FB posts, could you just unfollow her?
