11 week old - squirmy/screaming/face rubbing

My 11 week old son started getting very fussy around 8 weeks. It’s usually at its peak from 5:30am-7am and 7pm-10pm however throughout the day he’ll be content then just start suddenly screaming and be hard to soothe. He rubs his face vigorously into my shoulder leaving a drool spot, he puts his fist in his mouth frequently, and he is very squirmy/uncomfortable unless in a deep sleep. The past few days he’s also been screaming when I try to give him a bottle which is super abnormal for him, normally he would lunge at a bottle and chug it. He was put on medication for reflux for one week but that did nothing so I don’t think it’s reflux. I noticed 2 small white dots on his upper gums 11 days ago and they are still there. I feel like it’s possibly teething even though that’s early. Any thoughts or suggestions??

Have you tried him with a dose of calpol? Putting a teething gel, like Dentinox, on his gums before his bottle might help too.

Hi @MommaDani - did you find out what was wrong? I have similar with DD (just 12 weeks) and convinced it's teething but can't see any actual teeth yet ...

My doctor said he had blocked salivary ducts. He gave him an antifungal medication to treat any infections. The spots are still there but they should disappear on their own over time. He isn’t acting like that at all anymore! He’s 14 weeks now and has been an absolute angel for a week. A friend of mine did say that her baby acted similarly around that age just from going through so many changes around that age. So unfortunately I don’t have a definite answer for you. He was a very gassy baby to but can now pass gas and burp on his own so it could have also been that he was just super uncomfortable for a few reasons.
