Hand sucking / biting at night waking baby.

OK so 12 week old daughter appears to be teething, bright red cheeks, dribbling, chewing everything and almost gurning and playing with bottom gum with her tounge. She found her hands a few weeks ago and prior to this was sleeping great. I was swaddling then stopped and she still slept great.

Then the discovery happened. Now she won't go off to sleep because she's chewing her hands. I swaddled her again and she slept well until she started to escape, now every night I wake to the sound of slapping lips on her hands and sometimes crying if she bites to hard! unless I re swaddle her or sooth her back to sleep it won't stop!!!!

She's not hungry cos she does it after feeding.
I'd love to let her just do it but she is in the next2me and it's waking me up at least twice a night.
Does anyone have this, will it stop on its own? I'm hoping she'll find her thumb and stop smacking her lips on her fist all night.
We tried other swaddles like the love to dream one but she just got angry, plus she is 3 months so I'd like to not rely on this.

She does self sooth early In the night, but only if she can't get to her hands.
I'm literally going insane!!!

Have you thought of introducing a dummy OP? It's much better than thumb sucking as you can take away the dummy when they are older smile

Yes she has a dummy. Sometimes she likes it other times she doesn't.

Hi Narlat, did you ever find a solution to this? Our little girl is doing this at the moment. We started swaddling her again and she slept great but she’s now 15 weeks and getting very close to rolling over so we can’t keep doing that. We tried hands out last night but no joy and I’m persevering but so far she will not take a dummy.
