Baby shaking head

My baby shakes his head from side to side as if saying no. Sometimes it's a couple of times sometimes its longer? I don't know if something is wrong with him? He's only just started doing it the last couple of weeks. He does it mainly when he's on his high chair, sometimes on the changing mat and sometimes when in the pushchair. I don't know whether to be concerned?

It just means "Opening Poster"...you! :D Don't worry too much about the head shaking....sometimes they do it because they've just worked out how to.

If he keeps doing it beyond the next few weeks then maybe tell the doctor. Does he respond normally to you when he's doing it? Like, if he's doing it and you speak to him or make a noise, does he stop then?

Yeah he does stop. Sometimes smiles. Then sometimes starts doing it again?

So it sounds like he's doing it for fun....if it were a seizure or something he wouldn't stop.

Oh so so normal. I freaked out when my son started doing it at a similar age as yours. My friend reassured me that her son did the exact same thing and that she was worried too and Googled it. It is normal. My son is 14 months now and still does it occasionally and laughs hysterically about it. I think he just finds the sensation funny. Babies are weird.

Very normal. My 9 month old DD2 does it. She started doing it around 7 months and now does it when she doesnt want something.

My DD did it. I think she just enjoys the sensation of being dizzy, now she’s older she loves spinning round and round until she falls over. Babies will often repeat things that they do once and find interesting.
