12m won't let dad do anything for him

My DS has recently turned one. In the last few weeks he has screamed every time I've left him with DH. He whines and cries the whole time I'm gone (if i go for a shower etc).
DH is brilliant with him, has the patience of a saint and will bend over backwards to make him happy, but DS is just not satisfied unless I'm there. For reference he isn't like this if I leave him with anyone else. He goes to his grandparents for 1.5 days a week while I work, the other half day I leave him with DH and he screams as soon as he sees my work uniform and realises I'm leaving. DH works long hours so I am primary carer but this change is so sudden and it's breaking DH's heart. Is there anything we can do?
