2.5 year old keeps smacking.

I need some advice please Mummas.

My little girl will be 3 in Feb and she's smacking a lot. Mostly me. Occasionally her dad. If she doesn't want to get in her car seat, get dressed etc she will lash out and scratch or smack me.

Her speech and understanding is excellent for her age so I've tried to explain it isn't acceptable behaviour, you've hurt mummy, that isn't nice etc etc but when she loses it, she flips right out.

Is this normal? I know terrible twos is a thing but do other people 2 years olds actually smack? If it's just a phase then that's fine. But I've found myself starting to worry that she might do it to someone at nursery or out and about.

Any advice welcome.

Yes it's a normal phase. We had a travel cot, so I just plonked dd in it straightaway for a minute when she did this. It did stop it.

This was when dd was 2 I think. I also remember dd doing it when she was one at a postnatal group meeting once and a mother being very sniffy about it, so I was quite pleased when her son went through a hitting phase soon after

@Alexandrite thanks for replying. Hate snotty mums that think it'll never happen to them or their child. Fingers crossed we grow out of it sharpish

That's ok. Dd is 15 now and gets very good behaviour grades at school, so she didn't end up a delinquent
