Hi.
So, im at the end of my rope with dc3.
Hes 10.5 months but was born 9 weeks prem so hes coming up to 9 months corrected.
At the minute hes having plenty of solids, 3 bottles of formula and 2 good naps a days
Naps at 9.30 am and 2.30 pm.
Wakes at say 4 pm and is ready for a bottlw and bed at 7.
BUT
Every night for weeks now, he wakes at 7.30 pm after 30 mins sleep , wide awake and I can not get him settled again untill 10.30 pm no matter what strategy I use.
I have 2 other dc'a age 7 and 4 and im struggling so much now with the whole evening routine as hes disrupting them, dh works away so its just me for a month at a time.
Baby also is waking numerous times every night and seems to hate his cot!!
I feel like im failing this time, I should know how to fix this by now!
Any suggestions on why this is happening?
Thankyou from an exhausted mumsad

Any way you can bring his afternoon nap earlier? By that age we couldn't let out youngest sleep beyond 3pm if we wanted him to go down at 7pm so we made him nap earlier by cutting his morning nap short so he grew tired sooner. Now he's 16 months and generally has one long nap from 11ish through to 1pm sometimes more sometimes less.

I have a 10.5 month old with similar routine,
How long is your wee ones naps?
My wee one naps the same times but they aren’t very long, probs only 15-30 mins max.
We went months with him having naps around 6/7pm, we tried everything to keep him up but it was easier to actually let him nap, due to the tantrums! but thankfully he dropped the late nap and goes down about 9oclock now! I think they just go through phases and they come out it when it suits them so don’t beat yourself up about it, nothing your doing wrong at all!
Also my son isn’t sleeping well in his cot too, I must get up about 8/10 times a night to soothe him, and recently I’ve been taking him into bed which I have never did but I’m so exhausted I feel like it’s my only option. He’s never been this bad, just the last month he’s been like that, so am putting that down to another phase.

Nothing worse than exhaustion but Pat on the back for raising 3 kids! x

I agree with @Gertruude - I don't let my 10.5 month old nap past 3pm. Is he napping too long in the morning nap? My boy wakes between 7 and 7:30am (I wake him if I need to), I let him nap for 10-15 mins at around 9/9:15am (again, I wake him, or he'd do 45 mins and then not go down for his lunch nap!) and then 2 hours at around 12:45.

If I let him sleep for longer at his morning nap, he won't go down at 12:45 for his lunch nap, so then he'd either sleep too late and not be tired enough by night, or I'd have to wake him early and then he wouldn't have enough sleep and be overtired. I'm going to see how the 10 min morning nap goes but will probably end up dropping that morning nap altogether in a month or two. He usually sleeps for 12 hours straight at night btw.

It all goes to pot when he's at nursery of course as I think they don't like to wake him from his morning nap... so he does around 45 mins on the morning and then refused his lunch time nap and eventually falls asleep around 2pm and does an hour ish! He's shattered by the time he gets home! ❤ When he's dropped that morning nap I think it will be much more straightforward at nursery.

I guess the bed time is too early for him or the naps during the day are too much.

No advice just wanted to tell you that I’m there with you!

Currently watching my baby on the monitor rolling around. She’s been like this for 2 weeks despite dropping her afternoon naps.

I’m sure it’s a phase and will pass (breattthhhheeee)
