Hi,
I'm a mother of a 22 month old boy. My son has always been a cool baby wearing a poker face most of the time. However, he has a great sense of humor, he laughs wildly at funny things. His receptive language is good. He basically understands everything we say to him. He would fetch anything I ask him to fetch. He has just started saying words. My biggest concern is that he is a very passive toddler when it comes to language. He never points at anything calling its name. I need to ask him what it is for him to answer me with its name. I even need to ask him who I am in order for him to call me mama. Also he never of his own accord asks for food or drink. It's always when he sees that I'm eating something, he would say I want to eat or just whine. But in my mind, a typically developing toddler would be asking for stuff all the time, and probably pointing at things calling its name constantly. I don't know what to make of my son's behavior. Is it just a personality thing or is he delayed in some way, or worse, is he autistic?
