Anyone else's little one suffer with runny stools/diarrhoea when teething?? Was just wonder how we treat it in terms of solids to give and if this was normal or if it's actually a tummy upset?

Yes, my DC were/are the same. I tend to just up fluids but feed them as normal. Do take extra care of their bum, though, because they can be more prone to nappy rash at this time.

Thank you. Did your little one get the runs after eating food or was it as and when? I'm just wondering as I just have my DD cubes of cheese as a snack and she had Diarrhea straight away. But then I also gave her cheese snack last week and she had no reaction to it. Also was it a certain colour? Sorry, a bit too much detail but am trying to work out if it's a viral infection or teething. Can't get in at the doctors to find out!! 🙄

Mine had that too, but only for a couple of days, so I didn't do anything about it concerning food or drinks.

It wasn’t related to any particular foods. I don’t think there’s a colour change but it’s definitely pongier!

My 11 month old had awful diarrhoea last couple of days - really nasty nappies - but also had rosey cheeks so I think she is teething. My other 2 would often have had nappies when teething. Having said that, my LG is also dairy intolerant and her teething nappies can look like her early bad dairy nappies so I always double check she hasn't accidently had something with dairy in. If I am sure then I suppose it is just teething.

Thank you! These are the same, really nasty, I was wondering if it could be dairy intolerance, as we've introduced milk in porridge the last month or so. But then I was thinking I thought it would be straight away they showed signs of intolerance. How long was it before your little one displayed signs of dairy intolerance, were they acute or did it happen over a few weeks? I did take DD to the doctors who said it's a viral infection linked to teething but when I got home I kicked myself for not asking if it could be to do with dairy..! 🤦‍♀️

My LG was dairy intolerant from birth (on formula) so had yukky nappies from the beginning and a rash on her face that flared when she was drinking at about 6 weeks old. My son didn't have a rash but had same 'colic' and nappies. Bow my LG is 11 months and if she has dairy she then she starts throwing up within about an hour. She can have stuff with milk powder now, like biscuits.
I heard recently that babies can become temporarily dairy intolerant if they have just had a stomach bug - could this relate? I also wonder if Calpol doesn't help their tummies if they are sensitive and so can add to poorly tummy.
If you aren't sure, best thing might be to avoid dairy until she is completely better - maybe wait a week after her nappies are better - and then try her on something dairy and just see how she is. If she is sick/ nappies again within 24hrs I would say she is intolerant. If not, probably just the teething. Good luck! X
