Hello

My son is 7 months and I’ve just read his aptamil milk box and it says birth to 6 months. I still have him on this as I remember my HV mentioning that the follow on milk is not recommended, was I supposed to change him to full fat milk at 6 months? I thought we use the aptamil stage 1 up to 12 months?

any help would be appreciated

Xx

Just keep using it until age 1. Despite the age guide on it it's fine to use as you don't need to switch to follow on milk. Full fat cows milk is for age 1+

I left my daughter on stage 1 Aptamil until she was 1 year old, my HV told me the only difference is that stage 2 is thicker. I gradually switched her over to Full fat milk but after a couple of months she had problems passing her stools. So I’ve put her on stage 3 aptamil and she’s gone back to normal thankfully. X

Formula manufacturers only make follow on milk because they are allowed to advertise it. They can't advertise the from birth formula which was always intended for up to one year and if perfectly fine for that.
