Still having bottles at 14m

Hi all.
I wanted to gauge thoughts, opinions a d advice regarding my ds still having bottles of formula at 14m old.
Part of me thinks we should be doing more to tackle this.
I tried sippy cups between 11 and 13 months but he refuses to drink milk from them. Bought a couple of new ones just for milk but he will only drink water from his older cups.
He has a 3wk old sister so I've stopped trying really as we also moved house 2 weeks ago - there's enough changes going on for him!
He loves a full bottle about 4 times a day!
And because due to teething his appetite isn't always great I'm glad for the extra nutrition it gives.
I'm currently thinking I should relax, let him enjoy his milk and sneak out the bottles once we get back into a good routine of baby groups and replace them with a snack. I don't think he'll notice if we're at parent/toddlers 😄

How/when did your lo's drop their milk a.d move onto cups?

No advice as my DD is only 1 but has more milk/bottles than most her peers. So I'm curious to know you say he has 4 bottles a day, how much formula does he have? Just out of interest. DD is currently on 3 5oz bottles a day but doesn't drain them all and we are planning to cut the afternoon one out soon on the recommendation of the paedtrician to try and get her to eat better.

Mine were on to cows milk in a sippy cup by 12 months. But it doesnt happen overnight. Start with not offering a bottle for one of the middle of the day feeds, only offer water in a cup. Then when that is established switch the next one. Then do breakfast and lastly the bedtime one. Give yourself a target date and stick to it. Also you may find he isnt eating much because he is full of formula, not because he is teething.

Usually 4 8oz bottles. He's a proper guzzler! Grin

4 eight oz bottles is enough to replace 2 full meals for a toddler, no wonder he isnt hungry

Yeah my daughter hasn't been on 4 8oz bottles since she was about 8/9 months and even then didn't drain them all. We saw the paedtrician this week and DD is a bad eater and she recommended to us that we get rid of the afternoon bottle asap to get her to eat more/better and she's only just 1 as I say. What times does your DC have their bottles?

Usually morning, afternoon, evening and a night time one.
We've fallen into bad habits Hmm

I wouldn't worry too much don't be so hard on yourself. He's getting milk which is full of nutrients and calcium etc it's not like you're filling him up with four pieces of cake a day! My daughter's diet is faaaaar from ideal, she doesn't eat much other than bread, fruit, soup, and dessert so...

What times roughly? I'm just thinking if you want to cut down it probs easiest to do it slowly one bottle at a time. So maybe start by reducing the size of the bottles for a week or two and seeing how they goes. Maybe try making up 6oz bottles to start with ? And then after a couple weeks drop one bottle maybe, so when we were on four bottles we did one upon waking up, one around 12pm before lunch, then one around 4pm then one before bed. She hasn't had bottles in the night regularly after being 8 weeks old but she does on rare occasion if she wakes up upset in the night and won't settle etc. So with the daytime ones the first bottle we dropped we did it by moving the times a bit so since 10 months she has 3 bottles - one upon waking, one around 1.30pm and one before bed. And we added an afternoon snack around 3 or 4pm as she usually has lunch around 12pm and dinner not until 6pm. And we've just moved them from 6oz to 5oz. She's poorly atm so I'm going to wait til she's better and then cut out the afternoon one.

Thanks.
He went through a phase of not eating well, refusing even framage frais because of teething and I just never got out of giving milk.
I'm trying just dropping the midmorning and mid afternoon bottles.
He likes one to nap with so it might not go down well!
But he fell asleep in the buggy today and awoke at lunch time so that made that one easy 😁
He ate half a cheese and ham wrap and chewed and spat out some melon for lunch 😂
I'll try apple for a mid afternoon snack then dinner
