2yo biting

DS is 2 and has been biting at nursery (last 3 weeks). Nursery tell him off, go through kind hands etc. and tell me at the end of the day but I wondered what else I can do. When they tell me he knows he's in trouble, and they say to him "we are going to tell mummy" and he says "mummy will be cross" so he KNOWS he shouldn't be doing it.

FWIW he's been biting me for a few months and I tell him off and say teeth are for eating / kind hands etc but nothing really seems to make a difference. I have noticed it's worse when he's hungry / tired.

I suppose I want to know what I (we) can be doing to reassure nursery that we want to get to the bottom of it and also to try and prevent it from keeping happening.

this sounds very mean and it wouldn't work at nursery, but when ds bit us we told him that the next time he did he would get mustard in his mouth. he did bite again, so he got some mustard (which he hated). he never bit again..
