ok weve put him to bed in all in ones, drawstring trousers, jeans and anything else we can think of.

weve smacked him, weve ignored him, weve put him in a naughty chair and none of it is helping at all.

what can i do to stop him doing this as i dont fancy scrubbing his room every morning bcause of it.

he does his buissness in the early hours of the morning when everyones asleep and by the time we get him out of his room the nappies off and the rooms is covered!

please help, any sugggestions of fhow to prevent this or any punishments so he realises its wrong would be appreciated.

i cant take it anymore!!!!

I haven't got any advice myself but I think if you search poo and smearing in the Special Needs section you will find some helpful stuff, as I know there are several mners who have to deal with this regularly.

my dd did this , cant remember what age think it may have been 2.5. We did a mix of what you did, I actually cant remember why it stopped , but it just did .

I came on here and others suggested using thick tape aroiund the nappy and a vest done up the other way round so the poppers were on the other side.

She had a brand new beige carpet too and had just been put in a junior bed too, arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhh what a mare it was.

Mine does this too but luckily not in the night!
Mine is 23 months and takes his nappy off whenever he can.
I put him in the pen whilst I nip upstairs I come back he is bollock naked with a stiffy and there is a puddle on the floor - he points it out dead chuffed with himself
Perhaps the reason it doesn't happen at night is he wears a grobag and can't get to his nappy -you could try this.

boots mothercare bumpto3 - age 18-36months summer = 1 tog rest of the time 2.5 tog unless really hot then 0.5tog. You need a zip one that fastens at the bottom he will get out of a shoulder fastening one.

I'm presuming he is in disposable nappies (ie easy to take off)? How about getting a couple of washable ones which fasten with a nappy nippa - very difficult for a child to remove! And/or a washable wrap with poppers on it - again, hard to remove.

You could also put him in a babygro rather than pyjamas, and put it on the wrong way round (poppers at the back) - you might want to make a slit in the neck to make it more comfortable but that should prevent him.

Add in a grobag - and voila! As good as a straightjacket

nappy on back to front

reuseable nappy cover/wrap on top, and a girl's swim suit if you're desperate enough!

Reward chart and stickers and appropriate reward after 3 clean nights

you could try waking him at midnight and putting him on the potty

Sorry if you've tried all this already - I think you need to find out why he's doing it. At 2 he'll be pretty ingenious at working out how to it no matter what you do to prevent it.

PLease make 'punishment' appropriate if you must - 'now I've cleaned your room I'm too tired to play' rather than 'you pooed the length and breadth of your room, so no tv' IFSWIM.

No fun to deal with a poo artist. You have my sympathy (and the loan of a scrubbing brush if you need it)

houdini suits- have a look at Fledglings (google) they have made to measure ones! (you can put them on back to front as well). I think the only way is to prevent access until they 'forget' tbh.

Can he get out of his bed/cot or room? Just wondering if he can come & tell you when he has filled his nappy or if he has to wait for you to come to him?

Report
TheWiltedRose · 08/07/2007 17:17

he is in a toddler bed and he has a stairgate on his door because otherwise he goes into the babys room at night and tries to play but we can hear him talking as our rooms next to his

Is is possible to put a stairgate on the baby's room instead? That way if he does a pooey nappy you can give him the option of coming to tell you? My DS doesn't poo at night but he wees loads & often gets really sore if his nappy isn't changed in the night....he simply comes into our room & wakes us up by saying "Change my nappy please"....tis a LOT easier than having him wake us up screaming several hours later when he gets too sore to stand it & then you have to fight him to let us clean him up as he is so sore he can't bare us to touch him.

my ds did this for months and months and it drove me mad but i no its not much help right now but it will stop so just keep that in your mind every time your on your hands and knees scrubbing.
i not sure what stop him doing it but i know it did help to keep telling him to shout mummy when he had done a poo and maybe even let him practice shouting it. (every little helps)
good luck

Sympathies TWR!

My dd2 did this. Didn't smear, but wouldn't keep nappies on and wasn't toilet trained.

We went for the gaff-taped nappies and sleepwear that did up near the shoulders. After a weeks or so of this, the interest was lost and she started doing something else annoying instead. She also trained v soon after.

I wouldn't go buying a new gro bag though - all of ourc can easily get out of them...

Have you thought about the early hrs pooing thing? Is it worth changing the time of the main meal of the day to see if this can alter the pooing time?

Good luck!
