Behaviour/development

At my wits end!

My son is 4yo, and his behaviour is ridiculous. I'm out of options on what to do about it. It's got to the point where I dread to take him places because I know he can't behave.
Even places where he will be occupied, he has the attention span of about 5 minutes and he kicks off. He will hit his sister, he will hit me, he screams. He doesn't do as I ask. He causes problems with other children when he's playing out.
At nursery he's fine. No troubles (that's what his teachers say, anyway). But at home, he's awful to deal with. I've tried not allowing him to play out. Not allowing him to play games. Sending him to bed. Naughty step. Reward charts. I just don't know what else I can do.
I mean, I have a 7yo daughter, and yes, she can be naughty, but there's always a reason (being told "no", for example), but with my son, there doesn't even need to be a trigger. I just don't know what to do. I suppose I'm looking for a bit of advice or to know I'm not alone lol. Thanks for reading x

4 can be a peak time for PND. Can I ask how you are feeling OP? Did you have a traumatic birth by any chance?

Is he getting enough sleep? Does he wake naturally in the morning or do you have to wake him?

Boys like tonnes of exercise, is he getting plenty?

They also like cuddles and reassurance and a bit of a routine, a bit like Labradors Smile

If you are after some tips on how to help him, try Calm Parents. Happy Kids or Calm Parents, Happy Siblings Smile
