I have a 4 day old baby and since we've been home she's only ever sat with one of us or been in her Moses basket at night. If we Try To put her in her rocker she just cries. We took her out in her pram for the first time and she just cried. Is this going to be an ongoing problem as I'm not sure where to start xxx

Totally normal. She’s only 4 days old. Google ‘forth trimester’

My DS was like this, not saying your LO will be the same but the first 4 months were the hardest.
He didnt like to be put down much and if he did settle it wasnt for long.

It does get easier though and he is the happiest little boy now and loves playing with his toys.

Sending lots of luck your way, and as hard as it is right now just remember it does get easier xx

Do not let a 4 day old control you. Buy an oscillating chair to put her in it. If she is screaming pick her up to quiet her and then if you need your arms back put her down again.

Babies are meant to be held and cuddled - it’s how their emotional needs are met. Can you get a stretchy wrap sling so that you can have hands free to eat etc while baby is snuggled close getting comfort close to your heart.

Ignore the person who talked about controlling babies.

Yy to the people talking about the Fourth Trimester and how babies need cuddles and physical closeness for their emotional development.

Do you swaddle her? Swaddling makes her feel safe and like she's in the womb. If there plenty of padding in the peak so she can feel snug? If it's literally her lying in a peak with blanket from toes to armpits then she might feel lost in all that space. Is the peak a travel system with a clip on car seat? While babies should not be in car seats too long, the tiny babies I see while out and about look more snug and cocooned in a car seat. (Don't buy a new prank if this isn't the case. Just emphasizing the swaddle theme)

Personally I used a stretchy sling until 18 weeks and it worked a treat. Your hands are free but to baby it feels like you're cuddling them so win-win.

Tiny babies cry when they're put down for a reason. They need to be held. It keeps them safe and supports healthy brain development.

Babies can't control you and they don't need training to tolerate not being held. That's training them to tolerate their needs not being met.
