Early weaning advice

Hi,

My DS is 3 months old and is guzzling 9 ounce bottles every 3-4 hours. We have already tried hungry baby milk and it has no effect as he has the same amount at same frequency.

I know the aptamil baby porridge and rice says 4-6 months but has anyone given their baby one lot of this a day to see of it helps fill them through the night?

Thanks in advance xx

I weaned my little one at almost 5 months because she was feeding every 2 hours, my HV advised me to start weaning. I started off porridge in the morning and baby rice in the evening. I know your baby is younger so in that sense I have no advice but you know your baby, they advise to wait until 6 months but every baby is different I guess.
My mum started weaning me and my 2 brothers at 12 weeks and we are totally fine but obviously new information and studies say it's better to wait as the babies can have allergic reactions or it can irritate their stomach because their digestive system isn't fully ready. That's why if you do wean early I think it's better to have porridge or baby rice made with their milk.

Speak to your HV and see what they say, she can better advise and guide you.

Our Peadiatrician told me with both mine to try at 4 months. I did and I just knew they weren't ready so I tried again a bit later.

I agree get advice from HV. If they say it's ok then try it but don't worry if it doesn't work. Both mine were weaned before 6 months though.

Please don’t wean a 3m old. Get advice. In the meantime is there a problem with your baby drinking as much as they are? Just feed your baby when they’re hungry.

My dd had her first spoon feed at 6 weeks. I just made quite loose baby porridge she ate two bowls I just thought my instincts where right. She switched to cows milk at four months at was completely of her bottle at about 6 months. Just do what you think is best.

My opinion is that for a 3 month old to wake up every 3-4 hrs during the night is actually ok and could be much worse. I'd give him as much milk as he wishes (as long as he's not sick loads).

Although our parents weaned us very early because of new research I would definitely talk to health visitor first before weaning such a young baby.
