He can obviously climb out now, so do we have to start thinking about moving him to a bed? Any suggestions as to how to introduce the idea to him? How do you stop 'em falliing out or just getting out and playing for that matter? My dad helpfully suggested putting a lid on the cot!!!

I took the side off the cot & put a mattress next to it on the floor

After a few days (when I was sure DD was sleeping on the mattress) I got rid of the cot but she was a bit younger about 18m - I walked in to find arms, head, shoulders & 1 leg over the side - rocking perilously - so I thought it was time esp as she was in a harness for dislocating hips

YOu can get a side that goes on the bed to stop them falling out. We used this for a few weeks and then that come off. They can still climb out of bed with it

ds1 did this at 20 mths so cotbed sides came off to stop injury we put a double folded duvet on the floor to soften the landing and eventually resorted to a bed guard as fell out within 10 minutes . At three was in a 'proper' single height bed with no bed guard

So, put him back in his cot tonight, and moved his big wooden toy box, and dh seems to think that this may have aided his escape....we shall see....no big thuds so far, and he has been up there more than an hour chatting, singing and going 'ring, ring, dong, dong, dong,' for some unknown reason!!!!!!
