Early teething & delayed development

Hello. My ds has been teething since 3 months, and suffers really badly whenever he gets a new tooth through. It seems to have been almost constant! He is now 7 months old with 7 teeth, and the paediatrician has said his development is about 3 months behind for his motor skills (doesn’t roll back to front, hates tummy time, slight head lag, hates sitting).

Has anyone else had an early teether who also was behind in their development. Just don’t know how worried to be about him, or if he is just developing at his own pace. Confused Thanks all!

Not much to add but can you give him more tummy time in different ways to help his motor skills? I.e. Loads of along time and leaving him to lie forward on your chest rather than on a pillow on the floor?

I don’t think the two are linked. DS2 has been teething since 8 weeks and rolled at 13 weeks. DS1 got teeth at 4m and didn’t walk til 16m. I don’t think teething has much to do with gross motor skills.

I don’t think the teeth and delay are linked. My DC both have significant developmental delays and they were late to get teeth. All babies vary when they get their teeth. DD didn’t get any teeth until a week before he first birthday 😬 which was odd!

Your DS still has plenty of time to catch up. Both mine had physical delays. DS is 7 and is very active and a typical child of his age physically. DD is 3 and is still delayed in some areas but she had quite severe delays with walking etc but exceeds expectations in other areas. 😊
