7mo standing on tops of feet

This is a weird question I know... 7mo Dd2 has been pulling herself up on her feet for a couple of weeks now, and is almost at the point of taking steps along stuff (I tried Velcroing her down, didn't work 😉)

More than half of the time however, I find she's got her feet curled into a sort of fist, so she's actually standing on the top of her foot. Can't imagine it's comfortable but she doesn't seem to notice.

Neither of her siblings did this, so I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to think. Should I be getting her some crawler/pre-walker shoes? I didn't bother with the older two as they always struck me as the sort of thing the shops try to sell you that you don't really need, and I only bought them shoes when they were confidently walking and wanted to go outdoors, so about 13 months.

Any suggestions/experience?

It might be worth trying some cruiser shoes Smile

My DS3 did this. He started standing up about 10 months and did the same thing as your dd, standing with toes curled over it looked so painful. Everytime he did it we moved his toes so they were in the normal position. He stopped doing it after a week or two.
If that doesnt work you could try getting her shoes i shouldnt think she would be able to do it with shoes on.

Even though my ds stopped doing the toe curling thing, he still wouldnt put his feet flat on the ground for many months. He walked on tiptoes until 17 months. He wasnt able to take his first steps until he had stopped tiptoeing but he didnt have any problems after that

I think it's normal for some children to do this when trying to find their balance. I'd hold off on the shoes for a couple of weeks as I've read that it's better for their balance to be barefoot. If you're still concerned after a few weeks maybe talk to your health visitor. It does honestly sound normal though as she has only just started to be on her feet.

Thank you for the replies. Typically, since I posted, she's started putting her feet the right way up... Moving along the sofa in the process Shock

Not sure I'm ready for her to be this mobile just yet, she was only just born! Grin
