Were you induced with oxytocin drip?

I'd be really interested to hear from you if you were induced with oxytocin drip.

I was recently (second baby) and, though I have a really lovely little daughter, she has come with her challenges....she has a very strong startle reflex so will only sleep very tightly swaddled or in the carrier, in her cot she wakes herself up startling so cannot do any more than catnap during the day so I have to wear her pretty much constantly, silent reflux, trapped wind and constipation only partially helped by comfort formula, will not go in car seat without screaming (perhaps due to reflux), at only 8 weeks old cannot keep asleep past about 5am unless we take her in our bed and gently hold her arms and legs down.

I have a friend who was also induced with oxytocin, about 2 years ago, and had a baby with very similar issues and struggled a lot for many months.

It may just be coincidence, but I can't help wondering if the baby behaviour is linked to the induction method.... If so, perhaps this needs to be part of the advice when we give our consent. It's only the starting of an idea!

So, if you were induced with oxytocin drip, have you had similar experiences with your baby?

You’ve got a sample of two- really nothing that could be of any use in considering changing consent options. I had a drip induction and my child had none of those issues. My relative has a baby like your one and had the most stress free delivery imaginable. Some babies are just harder work than others.

I was for one of my children and not the others. They were all very similar babies so I don't believe the oxytocin made any difference

I was induced with oxytocin and my DD had none of those issues. I think it's down to luck more than anything!

I have 3 kids and never been induced. 2 has colic/tummy issues so I suspect that it's not rare for babies to do it.

If it helps... I was induced with oxytocin too and my daughter didn't have any of these issues. (Various other challenging behaviour! but not these).

I was with my 1st, upped to the max actually and even considered emergency C secion. Never had any such issues, sleeping 7 to 7 since 6 months old. Now at 3,5 still is an excellent sleaper and perfect development in all other areas.
My daughter was born very quickly naturally, no iduction. Also has been sleeping 7 to 7 since 6 months.

Both mine startled easily, silent refluxy etc. Onky 1 was syntocin/ventouse and forceps.
Other was no intervention.
I think the sleep issues and reflux were allergy to soy.

My eldest was born in 1970 and induced with oxytocin. None of this applied to her.

Mine was induced with drip and didn't have those issues. I know someone whose baby sounds a lot like yours and she didn't have the drip. They grow out of it though!
