My lb will be 3 in August. He’s been flagged by the HV as having a speech delay. We’re now ‘on the list’ but there’s a 10 month wait for therapy. No one with speech therapy knowledge has actually seen him

this is all based on a form that I’ve filled out.
I’ve now been told by his nursery that we need to have a meeting because they think he’s delayed physically as well as the speech.
I’m at a complete loss as to what I’m doing so wrong and haven’t got a clue how to fix it.
I just want him to be a happy little boy and all everyone seems to be pointing out are the things that are wrong.
Does anyone know where I need to go to start getting him some help or do I just wait it out see if he catches up?

Hi my LG is 2 and her nursery and we have identified two global development delays. One being walking, the second speech.

First step is go to see your GP for a children’s development centre referall. Take your nursery reports and ask your nursery to do a SENCO specialist report if they have this facility.

This seems to have reduced to wait time from 16 weeks to 2 weeks for us. We have our assessment next week. Feel free to PM me if you need a chat Flowers

General consensus is that’s it’s a waiting game until their four. Albeit Physio and speech therapists have been mentioned. Hearing and eye tests can be the first port of call also. Speak to your HV also xx
