Help with my 8 year old - please help

Not sure where to start!

My 8 year old daughter has always been ‘difficult’ (but like her mum!). I just don’t know what to do. She is rude to me and all family adults - and firmly told off when she is - she is belligerent, disobedient, lies.

I tell her off when needed. I have been trying to remember to praise her when she is helpful, kind etc.

She irritates her brother constantly - she loves to sing but can’t do it quietly which winds him up (ASD issues here and so it’s added pressure), she keeps going into his room, she touches everything - esp if it’s not hers.

I just don’t know where to go from here. I’ve said to hubby I’ll take her to the doctors but he’s not sure they can do anything. I am at the end of my tether with her.

I love her dearly but really don’t like her very much and struggle daily.

Please help me be a better mum and begin to like my daughter again

That sounds really difficult, I can only imagine. Could she feel like her brother gets more attention and she feels like any attention is better than none (not suggesting this is the case but could be through her eyes?). Is there anyway of spending time with her, just the two of you away from the house and just have some fun together then maybe ask her how she’s been feeling? I’m hoping someone with experience will come along with some advice but in the meantime hang in there.
