Worried about 8 mo develpment

Hello, I don’t want to be paranoid and I know all babies are different but I’m getting worried about my 8no DDs development.

She can sit (but falls sometimes) and feed herself fine and makes a lot of eye contact, giggles & babbles. Reaches out for toys and grabs things.

She can’t even nearly crawl, no sign at all and has no interest. She can’t move herself or shuffle along in anyway at all. She can’t roll back to front, doesn’t say dada or mama. I’ve read she should be starting to do all these things, should I be worried?

She sounds ok to me, but I'm not an HCP. I think sitting unassisted is the only major formal milestone at this age, and I think they say ask your GP if the baby can't sit by 9 months.

Does she make any sounds? It's early for true words, but babbling should start quite soon I think. But she sounds as though she's doing loads of stuff!

Sorry, just saw she babbles. Sounds great!

Wouldn't worry too much, they say babies who learn to crawl later will learn to walk sooner than average while babies who crawl earlier become really good crawlers and don't feel the need to walk and learn later than the average. Talk to your health visitor if you're in the UK about your concerns.

Lots of babies haven’t crawled by this age, it’s peefectly normal. Some never crawl at all and go directly to walking. Try not to worry.

Mine rolled and crawled at 10 mo; my niece was 1 when she crawled so perfectly normal!

Not an HCP, but sounds fine to me. DD didn't roll over until she was 11 months! Some babies never really crawl and go straight to walking (quite a few that I know actually!) - DD is an expert crawler now at 13 months - so bloody fast that she has no interest in walking at all! Had our 1 year check recently and HV wasn't concerned at all.

The giggling, eye contact, babbling and reaching sounds great - she sounds like a perfect little 8 month old!

They really all do just do things in their own time - I spent a while worrying that DD wasn't doing X,Y and Z like others at groups etc, but there's a huge range of normal, and they all develop at different times.
