15 month old - not speaking yet

Hi all. My 15 moth old DD does not speak a single word yet (with meaning). she only says 'da' or 'dadadada' for very random things . We havent heard her call us 'mama' or 'dada' yet. She does understand words when we speak - like clap, stomp, hurrah etc. She also points to things she wants - her books, her toys, even bananas, which she loves.

But all the other toddlers we know of her age speak at least a few words. should we take DD to her GP?

My little one is 16 months he says hiya and dye (bye) sometimes we think he says daddy but other than that nothing apart from babbling. I thought it was pretty normal to be honest and I’m not worried he’s far more interested in running about to be honest. I’m sure he will get there as will yours. I wouldn’t worry.

Nothing to worry about at all. I know it says online that they should have a few words by their first birthday but this is massively up for debate. Gp won't refer you to speech therapy for a good few more months anyhow. Understanding is more important at this age than verbalising which is what your dc is doing already as you said.

Agree with others, you are worrying about nothing, far too early to see if there is an issue. They might start looking into at 24m.
