Hi. My DD is 12 and has always struggled with friendships. She is oversensitive and struggles with the general "cut and thrust" of life. This is getting a bit better but she still tends to cast herself as a bit of a victim - if someone politely asks her not to do something they're "being horrible to her" or "don't like her". She also seems to struggle in groups - she tends to try and dominate a bit by telling "stories" that really aren't particularly relevant or interesting, and you can see other children withdrawing from her. She is a very kind, empathetic child but really seems to struggle to bring this out in friendship. I think she has low self esteem which may well be the underlying cause, but I'm at a loss of how to help / guide her without making the loss of confidence less. She's really unhappy about her perceived unpopularity, and really wants things to change but don't think she can without help. Any advice would be great.
