My lo is nearly one year old. He goes to bed at 6.30pm on a bottle of formula. He wakes around 9pm completely distressed. He is shouting/screaming/crying. We have tried everything we can think of. Milk, burping, hot/cold, nappy change, cuddles make it worse and this has been going on for about 3 weeks now. Its EVERY NIGHT. My dh and I are running on empty. We constantly bicker at each other now as we are so stressed and he has started sleeping in the spare room.
Lo is like this all day. Last Sunday we had to take it in turns going upstairs for a time out because the baby was just so grumpy and crying/whining.
We have tried calpol, teething powders, bonjela, ibuprofen, ewan the dream sheep, cuddles, stories. During the day we take him out for walks or to the library. Hes just constantly crying.
I have found myself doing overtime daily because I just don't want to go home. All thats waiting for me is crying and screaming. I have annual leave next week and I'm dreading it.
Has anyone been in a similar situation and had success at the docs? Been tested for anything?
Im keeping a diary this weekend of all meltdowns and I'm going to record this inconsolable screaming and see what the doc says on Monday :(

I have no advice. I just wanted to say how amazing your doing with such a difficult time. As with everything parenting I’d imagine it will pass. So hard when they cant tell you whats wrong.
Your doing the right thing having time out. Don’t feel guilty. It’s helping you cope Smile

Could it be a night terror? 2-3 hours after bedtime is when it commonly happens.

A dummy usually calms my little one down in the middle of night, does yours take one? If your LO never has maybe you could start now to see if it’s comforting to him?

Could it be heartburn?
We had a similar thing with my 10 month old waking up repeatedly screaming, especially in early part of the night. Last night was particularly bad, he was crying for over an hour and while clearly knackered and trying to settle himself to sleep he was just too uncomfortable. Finally penny dropped for me at 9pm that he probably had heartburn, got in the phone to 111 immediately as I couldn’t hack another night of crying before we see GP. An hour later I was back home with a bottle of ranitidine and poor lamb slept through.
He did have reflux as a baby and ranitidine helped so I knew what to ask for. I just assumed he had grown out of it and stopped giving it to him when we ran out couple of months ago. Evidently he hadn’t.
