Baby not reaching milestones

Hi all, first time posting on mumsnet, and I was hoping for other to share their experiences/ help me get over my guilt.

My 9.5mo DS is behind in reaching some of his developmental milestones and my HV and GP have got me worried. GP wants to see him at 10mo because he isn’t reaching his milestones.
DS has only just learnt how to sit unaided, can’t get into the sitting position himself, hates being on his tummy, and apart from kicking his legs whilst led down doesn’t seem interested in moving anywhere.
DS has reflux, which hasn’t improved with weaning (whole other issue with that). Because of this, he doesn’t get as much time playing as we have to keep him upright. I have been trying to get him to sit up since 6mo, but I will admit I didn’t do it often at first because he can be sick a lot. It was just easier to put him in his bouncy chair, and now I feel it’s my fault that he is behind.
I also think his reflux is a contributing factor to DS not wanting to play/ practise. Whenever I would sit him up he would either fall straight back or throw up. Even if I put a toy in front of him, he would find other ways to get it like using his feet to pick it up and then grab it with his hands. He finally managed to sit unaided at 9mo (he still throws up though when sat up), but that was after I had seen my HV and GP who are both concerned. HV and GP are also concerned because he doesn’t seem interested in moving. He can roll onto his front but hates it. He either rolls straight back or cries lots.

Please share your experiences of your DC, so I can try and stop feeling guilty and so I know my DS will be ok.
P.S. sorry for the long post.

Lots of babies spend a good bit of time in bouncers OP. You say he has in fact now learned to sit unaided...what other milestones have been mentioned?

Hi Ajas, yes he can finally sit unaided, but only just. He wasn't when I saw my HV and GP. He cannot get into the sitting position himself, and he cannot get on all fours or crawl because he hates being on his tummy.

He sounds fine .
Mine sat at 9 months but done none of the rest until after a year

If he has reflux I can imagine that this has totally overtaken his first few moths of life, please don’t feel guilty.

If he is a little behind with sitting and falls backwards, could you sit behind him or put cushions behind him? Have you tried putting toys slightly out of reach too?

How is he with his other milestones? Can he put food into his mouth? Can he stand I for you hold him?

Have the HV or GP suggested things that may help?

Just seen your second post. My DS couldn’t do either of those things at that age, he was cruising the furniture though. He does have very mild autism.

He can put food in his mouth, and his sippy cup, and stand if we hold him. He can also clap hands and loves dropping stuff on the floor to see how we will react.
The HV and GP haven’t reccomended anything yet. HV just panicked me as she kept saying that he should be sitting up by now and should go see a GP. GP just told me to come back in a month to see how he’s getting on.

He does sound fine OP....some babies just take a bit longer. It's good that he's started to sit up and now, when he goes back into the GP, they'll be pleased.

Thank you for your replies.

I'll try not to worry as much about DS hitting his milestones, and I need to keep working on my guilt.
