Hive mind, please flood me with positive news --or just give me the cold hard truth.

DS is 4 Months, ebf and has always been a sicky baby. He had a bit of reflux as a newborn but never to the level of giving him any treatment for it (except tilted cot, holding him up after a feed etc). He used to do an epic vom everyday but luckily hasn't done that much at all since the new year. But he's still soooo sicky. Constantly possetting curdled milk and often spitting out fresh looking milk with quite a bit of force. It doesn't seem to bother him however my washing pile is huge. In every other way he is a total dreamboat, sleeps well, is happy and a good weight and size. He's quite active and is rolling over both ways already, I wasn't sure if all this fast development of his stomach/abdominal muscles could be having an effect on his sickiness? Could it be something I'm eating? I tried cutting out dairy when he was newborn but it didn't make a difference. He does feed quite often (at least every hour and an half that he's awake) but does come off when he's full and will refuse the boob when he's obviously not hungry.

Oh lord.. he's just a sicky baby isn't he? And I just have to accept that I always have a bit of vom on me, and my hair and my jeans. Best go put the next load of washing on..

Not had a vomiter but I’m assuming it will get better. You don’t meet many mothers of teens with vomit down their back...Grin

Thanks @EveryoneTalkAboutPopMusic, you're right, I'm sure eventually it will end (not feeling so confident that the washing pile will ever end though.)
Must admit my mum probably had some of my alcohol induced vomit down her back at some point in my teen years though Grin

Don't suppose anyone else has any experience of this?

That sounds exactly like how my son was. It got worse as he became more mobile. I started to notice an improvement at about 9 months and by 11 months it was hardly happening. He's now almost 14 months... I was just remarking on how he'd not been sick for months and bleargh all over the carpet and me. It never bothered or upset him (just me as it stunk). My son was formula fed. I concluded it was just down to his osophagus not being developed enough to hold everything in, hence it getting worse with the increased mobility. Anyway, it does get better... and by the time it does the washing pile will be just as big from all the food they slop down themselves and muck they crawl around in outside GrinWink

My son and nephew (both age 2.5 years now) were epic spewers. I remember poor BIL at a family party with milky barf literally coating him from the beard on down. His t-shirt was partly transparent it was so soaked, the milky dribble was running down his legs and dripping onto his shoes. It was a real exorcist style barf from the nephew!

Needless to say everyone in the family held them both quite gingerly, carefully did not jiggle them and pretty much always had burp cloths at the ready until they were about 7 months. At which point they both started to grow out of it and the vomit incidents rapidly tapered off. I don't think either of them have been sick since they were about 8 months old.

My son ended up it being so sicky when we worked out his food intolerances.
He is lactose intolerant so formula (and later cow's milk, yoghurt etc) was the cause of his vomiting.

Thanks for the responses, glad to know I'm not the only one covered in vom.

Glad you found the source of the sickiness @jaimelannistersgoldenhand. At what age did you discover his intolerance? DS' sickiness comes and goes which makes me think it's possibly not connected to my diet but I'm willing to give it a try.

Your BIL sounds like my DP @GoBigOrange, he's always a little damp and sicky. Glad they grew out of it.. only 3 months for me to wait then! I constantly have about 4 muslins on me at any time, thank god for the Muslim cloth.

@noodlmcdoodl glad that your DS grew out of it too, though waiting until 11 months sounds torturous! I've heard the weaning stage is pretty much just as messy so I shall prepare myself. I haven't worn any of my 'nice' clothes since he was born. Oh except xmas day at my MILs when I wore this lovely lace skirt from Whistles (naice) and DS of course vommed all over it.. had to come back down in my emergency leggings.. sigh

My first was like this. She killed our carpet once she started crawling! 🤮

Once she was upright, it wasn’t an issue anymore. Sorry to not have more positive news but it did get better......eventually!

My DS now 22 months was like this til 8 or 9 months. Never bothered him, but like you I was often covered in baby sick! Worst part was after weaning with the orange sick...that stains more! He's not a sicky toddler at all now though. I felt like you that it would never end. We used Gaviscon for a bit but it was a faff with BFing (did help a bit). Once he moved to formula at 8 months the sick seemed to slow down, no idea if that was coincidence though. I'm a few weeks pregnant with my second and crossing fingers to not have a sicky one this time Grin

Mine was exactly like this. Happy as larry, ate, slept and behaved wonderfully but was always sick! Didnt matter when he had eaten, if he stayed still, if he was active, he was always sick! It got better at about 9 months and ended completely. Muslins and wipes were my never ending companions!

Thanks for commenting @Amanduh, and congrats for graduating from the sicky baby's club. For your loyalty to the club may I present you a Muslim made from golden thread.
Seems like 9 months is the time they get over it then, may be their stomach goes through a big development then. I'm just happy that the overriding verdict wasn't 'cut out dairy' because chocolate is one of my major food groups.

Owner of a ex sicky baby here! He was awful right up until about 10 or 11 months when he started cruising, his stomach muscles must have got better developed with all the standing up. I used to wear my dressing gown over my clothes and whip it off when going out. Happy washing!

Dressing gown is a great tip @Brys125, I feel stupid that I didn't think of that before.

Also please switch any time I've written 'Muslim' for 'muslin'... Blush I do not present a muslim made from golden thread, just a muslin for any graduates from the SBC.
