5 year old tantrums

My 5 year old is in reception class and her teacher tells me that she is lovely, well-mannered and doing well with her school work. She is quite a quiet girl, but also headstrong and quietly confident. Recently, she has become very confrontational at home, particularly at the end of the school day, and has regular flare ups where she can’t seem to control her emotions. Most of the time, she seems relly happy, but these flare ups are atarting to concern me. I’ve tried to ask her if she is worried about anything at home or school, but she doesn’t say anything. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can encourage her to talk to me about what she’s is feeling?

My 5 year old does this too- i think he's tired after school and takes it out on me. In the case of my DS I don't think he has any deeper issues than that. My friends with children a similar age say the same thing about their children. I also have an 8 year old with autism and when he gets upset its quite different to a normal tantrum which blows over after a while.

Thanks Vibe2018. It feels like she is still young and therefore tantrums like these should be normal, but I keep reading that they should be able to manage their emotions earlier than this. I think tiredness may be the issue, but the tantrums just seemed so extreme.
