Help! How did you stop breastfeeding?

I have a nearly 8 month old DS and I’m seriously preparing to stop breastfeeding as I return to work soon. I’m worried that he’ll still need me for feeds when I do (they haven’t reduced since starting weaning yet).

But how did you do it? I have no idea...he doesn’t take a bottle or a beaker. I’ve given him lots to try and tried persevering with one type but it’s not working. I don’t want to just wait for him to take something...

So mums... when you had to stop more abruptly for whatever reason, how did you do it? Wait for them to get really hungry? Get other people to feed?

When I went back to work when LO was 9 months she was too distracted to miss it, and she associates bf with me. So when I am not there I think she gets on with playing, when I picked her up though she cried for it. I didn't think it would work but it did. I just tried different beakers for water. She is almost twice that age now and is still bfeeding in the evenings, and during the night.

Do you definitely want to stop OP or are you just worried about returning to work?

Have you tried phoning one of the Bfing Helplines? A BFC will give you information on stopping or help you to come up with a return to work plan Xmas Smile
