Baby small for his age?

Hi all, my little one is nearly 10.5 months, he’s always been just above the 25th for his weight he’s approx 8.7kg and his height/length hasn’t been done since he was very small but it was around the 9th. He is still in 6-9 month clothes and bottoms wise he will be for a while yet, he has his 8-12 month check next week so will get measured again but I think he’s around 70cm. I’m not bothered at all but I’m just tired of people commenting ‘oh he’s little isn’t he’ someone thought he was 6 months old the other day. I’m only 5ft6 and my partner 5ft7 so he was never going to be huge (I was hopeful he would follow my dad for height 6ft3!!) just wondered if anyone else had little ones out there, or had little ones that suddenly had a spurt! Like I said I’m not too bothered but constant commenting makes me wonder if I should be. Thanks :)

Will he be weighed and measured at his 12 month check? It’s ok for them to drop 2 centiles but if he’s dropped below the 9th centile yiu May want to talk to your HV about having his slow weight gain investigated.

He will be yeah- his weight gain is slow but still just about on the 25th he’s been crawling since 7 months and now walks everywhere with a walker- so I figured that’s why it’s slow. i think it’s the length I was more thinking there could be an issue as he’s only just coming out of 3-6 months length at 9/10 months - I will ask the HV their thoughts tho, thanks

Length can be really hard to measure, but I think you’re right to raise it with your HV if he’s only just coming out of age 3 to 6 month clothes.

DD was 4lb13 when she was born. Is 11.5mo and only just going in 9-12mo clothes but they are still quite big.

Both me and DP are quite tall (5ft11 and 6ft2) but she is just always going to be a bit small. She was in tiny baby for ages. She didn't get in her actual baby grows I bought for the hospital until she was 4mo.

I will say she is having a bit of a spurt right now but she goes ages where I get worried about her weight. As long as they are eating, drinking l, growing and developing then they will just be smaller.
