Quitting the dummy!

Hi, my DD is two in a few weeks. She has had a dummy since she was a week or so old. I have had no plans to get rid of it before a few weeks ago we got a new puppy. My DD keeps purposely giving the pupher dummies. A few have been damaged by the dog and I've had to replace which is costing me a bomb!

Anyway, I have been thinking shall we quit the dummy??

My DS was three when he gave up his and I would like my daughter to be younger! My OH says that I'm only doing it because the dog is destroying them - which partly is the case - but she is nearly two!

Tips? Cold turkey or gradually reduce dummy usage? Or perhaps only use at night time? My DS gave his up on his own which made life super easy ha!
