Over the last couple of weeks DS has begun talking about killing, kill you, kill it etc and when asked what that means he'll make 'pew pew' noises. Now this is something that we categorically do not talk about, we are very careful what he watches/hears will turn things off (especially in the last week and the sadness in Manchester) and although I'm not stupid enough to think that he doesn't know things are happening we do our best to shield.
I have asked him gently where he has heard this and he has said the same name a few times now, an older boy from the childminder, so as he has repeated the same name I'm thinking this is somewhat accurate.
I'm trying to ignore or gently discuss about how it's not a very nice thing to say, I don't want to react and him learn it's a way to get attention but I equally don't want it to be something he just throws around.
Any advice (not a flaming for being a bleeding heart liberal) on how to handle this or how you may have experienced this before. I want to speak to the CM but I don't expect her to be able to monitor everything every child says all day.
Tia!!
