Since I left my ex h a year and 3 months ago, my ds has had anxiety problems, wouldn't go into school won't line up, had to drag him in. He's got better these past weeks. He's had councelling at school, sticker charts etc etc. I feel sorry from him i really do. But my dp took the kids to school this morning and my ds is playing up big time, is rufusing to walk etc . I don't know what i expect really just wanted to get it out, I am running out of ideas on what to do. My ds needs to go to school, but he hates it. Why do they pull at your heart strings. So just wanted a moan really. Does anyone else have this problem??

thanks for reading.xx

I had a similar thing with my dd starting school she hated it and cried. I also had an 'episode' with ds when he was 6 where he would walk to school but then refuse to go in and I had to drag him in and he would scream and grab hold of the door frame - it was so hard.

All I can say it that it does pass - at the time it feels like it will go on forever but it won't - one day at a time and talk to people about how you really fel rather than putting on a brave face - that always helped me.

Thanks dimpled thighs. This has been going on for nearly a year now. He was doing so well, i suppose it's because my dp took him and not me. But you know there are times when i can't take him and dp will have to. I was just shocked at his behaviour today as my dp phoned me and I could hear ds in the back ground. He's 7 btw, But this seems to be dragging on and on and on.

Thanks can you get it in book shops as i can't order things on line. I have raising boys, which i found interesting and really thought hang on that's ds. I just feel so sorry for him, half of me wants to keep him home and half knows that he needs to go to school. And it's a really nice school, and he comes out happy. I jsut feel sorry for the mite.

I also rate that book Pitchounette (the one parenting book that really stands out imo)
I bought it in Borders Aloveheart.
My ds who is also 7 absolutely hates school Aloveheart. You say your son is happy when he comes out so at least that is a positive sign.
