Cracking Hips

My 9 month old joints sometimes crack, I asked my pediatrician here in LA and she said it was normal, then a friend's pediatrician said it was normal unless it is in the hips.

Does anyone have any experience / advice on this one?

The hips business is about a condition called "clicky hips". It's very common in children born to Bretons and people of Breton origin and it is crucial for the baby to wear a special plastic container around its hips for several months in order to avoid later disability. The condition is totally curable if caught early and treated this way.

I am writing this from memory, as my cousin's daughter was born with clicky hips 20 years ago. You could check it out on the internet and see whether it might be your child's condition, in which case you should definitely search out a second opinion.

thank you anna8888

i have just spoken with my pediatrician and she said if it is very occasionally then that's OK ... as long as they are not in pain and it doesn't happen all the time
