Was anyone else's baby slow to crawl and walk?
DD is 13 months. She was born slightly pre-term and had a low birth weight (0.4th centile but now up to 50th). She has a very small hole in her heart which is being monitored and they still think may close. No other issues that we are aware of.
She doesn't crawl, she'll shuffle 360 degrees on the spot pretty quickly but that's it and she's only been doing that for a week. If you stand her up at some furniture she will balance well and stand and play with items on that surface. She doesn't cruise and she doesn't pull herself up.
Her fine motor skills are excellent. She claps, waves and points, she babbles lots, can say Teddy and understands a few phrases such as "Do you want some milk?" and "Where's teddy?".
It's only really gross motor that I'm worried about, I think she's in the normal range for the other things. I've been frightening myself by reading about conditions that a baby with delayed gross motor and a heart defect may have. The health visitor seemed entirely unconcerned as she is showing progress, very slow progress!
Any experiences?
