Very hungry 3 month old!

My DS is almost 15 weeks and for the last 5 days or so has been really hungry at bedtime.
He has a 7oz bottle (sometimes drained, sometimes only taking 6) every 4 hours (sometimes 5) and seems content with this at bedtime, waking for his next feed around 5:30am.
For the last 5 days though, I've given him his usual 7oz bottle which he has completely drained and put him to bed. He then won't settle until I feed him again where he generally has another 3oz meaning a whopping 10oz in total! How he isn't sick is beyond me!
We try everything before giving in and feeding again, cuddles, nappy change etc. He usually loves his dummy to soothe but he's sucking it for about 5 seconds until he realises nothing is coming out and hen spitting it out and crying again! We then go to the fail safe method of the hairdryer! When he had really bad colic, the hairdryer was the only thing that would soothe him for 10 minutes and so that is our no-fail method - except now, now it's failing!

He doesn't feed to sleep, whenever he takes his last bottle before bed, he's always wide awake and we cuddle for 10 minutes before he goes down slightly drowsy. He has his ceiling projector and Ewan the Dream Sheep on and generally goes to sleep pretty quickly!

My question is, what can I do? Should I keep feeding him such a large amount? He clearly wants it and isn't sucking it up but I'm aware it's such a large amount of milk for a small baby! I know hungry baby milk is an option but I'm reluctant to try this as he's had it once before and was constipated really badly; we had a very, very unhappy baby mostly all of the time as he was blocked up!
Any advice is much appreciated! Smile

My ds had a phase of taking an extra few ounces before bed too so I would just go with it. Think his max was 11 ounces once, but just on the bedtime feed

Maybe increase all the bottles to 8oz so the extra before bed is more balanced throughout the day?

Agree with Lorna.

Thanks for the replies!

We've increased all of his bottles to 8oz and it seems to have worked! He won't always take the whole 8, sometimes 6 or 7 but he now seems content with an 8oz bottle before bed if he has one or two full 8oz during the day!

What a greedy lad I've got! Grin

Not really greedy. The advice on the tin is only a guideline Smile

Ideally he should be having 2.5 floz of formula for every pound he weighs, so he will want increased quantities as he grows. Once he hits 6 months the guidelines change to a minimum of 20floz a day until he's one Smile

Oh glad it's having an effect. We've just recently put 6mo DSs bottles up to 9oz, sometimes he downs them no problems, other times he only drinks half
