My daughter is coming up to 15 months and doesn't say any words. I'm not worried just I'm sure my older daughter was saying a lot of words by now. How old are they when they normally start saying words?

I seem to remember that by 18 months they are typically saying between 5 and 50 words. It's normal for a 15 month old not to say anything yet.

Yes not worrying yet-both of mine had words by 18 months but not many. Dc1 was very slow until 2 and a half but had great speech by his 3rd birthday.

The progress checker on the talking point website is good for reassurance, or to know when to get some advice from GP/HV. www.talkingpoint.org.uk/progress-checker
I think most children have a few single words by 15/18 months but the range of normal is v wide.
My DS did not say any words until 2.3 but he was a late talker. Many late talkers do catch up spontaneously by 3 (DS did, and was chatting away in full sentences by 2.6). But if a child isn't saying anything after 18/21 months, definitely worth seeing HV and getting basics like hearing checked out. Waiting lists for audiology referrals and SLT can be quite long.
