When do babies start to change to their eye colour ? coming from a family of brown eyed family, my baby's eyes are still blue ! I dont know whether its still the 'birth blue eyes ' or hes is actully blue eyed! he's 11 weeks old . HV reckons he's blue eyes but I'm just not convinced !

I thought it could be up to 6 months?

Dd's started to change colour when she was about 6mths old IIRC.

I'm from a brown eyed family too, and my DS's eyes were blue for ages (longer than i expected) but they changed in the end - i'm sure it took a good while for it to become apparent though

6mths ?!..HV informed me its 6-8 weeks !hmm

I think it depends what they change to. If they are going to go chocolate brown they seem to change quite quickly. But if they are going to be hazel/green/grey they take a lot longer to change. I think the stock response is 6 months but I've heard of it taking a lot longer than this. It was around the age your DS is now that my DS's eyes got much bluer and then it was obvious he was going to be blue-eyed rather than the more grey-like blue of a newborn.

I always thought if they hadn't changed in the first few weeks, they wouldn't, but my DD had blue eyes ( like me ) until she was two, and over the last year they have changed to hazel/green like her Daddy.

ds is 3.10 and his ey7es are starting to go green. Have always been baby blue before.

Ds had lovely dark blue eyes when he was born and they then changed to brown around 6/7 months. They were so dark, I always thought they would change though...

not sure. dd's eyes were always very dark and im not entirely sure what colour they were, you couldnt really tell. but every picture i have of her say past 5 months and they look brown as they are now.

It's interesting as ds1 was bright blue from birth to about 18 months, then they changed to a hazel green.
Ds2 was born blue and stayed blue
dd1 was born brown
dd2 was born blue and stayed blue
dd3 was born very dark brown and has stayed that way
It will be very interesting to see what ds3 has when he is born

sounds like it varies over time , my ds eyes looks blue , - outside the pupil its light blue then the rim is kinda dark blue . by the sound of all of your responses I should wait and see till 6mths if hes still blue then I will be convinced hes definately blue eyed !!

My ds is brown eyed , from wot i remember her eyes changed quite soon making obvious she was going to be brown eyed so i will be amazed if ds is going to be blue eyed!

Eye colour is VERY complex. If it was simply the result of 1 gene he would have a 25% chance that he would be blue even with 2 brown eyed parents.

However it is more complex than that.

I think it can be up to 12m before a childs permanent eye colour is evident and even then it will undergo subtle changes throughtout childhood. I think brown eyes do
