Fearful toddler suddenly scared

Help.....
My little boy is 3 in april and this all started boxing day. He was bought a toy truck that vibrates agressively and is really noisy and my lb was petrified of it. So we put it away since then my lb has been waking through the night crying about a truck coming to get him. Ive reassured him constantly but now he wont sleep on his own. The past few days since this nightmare, my lb wont be left alone at all and will panic and cry. He also wont play with any of his toys including all his wanted christmas presents. We have also been completely out of routine with us being at home over xmas. I just dont know what to do he is not himself at all our bubbly happy boy is so quiet

Your poor little boy. Does he understand that the truck is gone? Are yiu back home now and is he anymore settled?

I wonder about getting the truck back out and showing it to him without the sound on and reassuring him it's OK, it's just a truck. "Look, Mummy's playing with the truck!" That kind of thing.

Perhaps get the truck back out and remove the batteries so he can play with it quietly and see that it's not scary anymore.
