Hi all, first ever thread so hoping I am doing this right!

My dd in the past couple of weeks has suddenly changed, and been getting very scared over things she never used to be. Yesterday we went to go to a Christmas carol concert, and she freaked out when we went to walk through the doors and screamed like she was completely petrified. Today we went to the arcades and gift shop, and she acted the same way and just refuses to go in. She will also not watch anything different than 4 programmes that she is used to, and running away screaming if I try to put anything different on to and keeps asking for tv or music to be turned off altogether so it is quiet.

Please help, I don't know how to help her overcome this!? She has always been a little be frightened of things, but its just getting out of control :(

Do you think she could be autistic / have Aspergers ? Maybe you need to have her tested. Bless her.

Oh god, same here, no idea what has triggered it. It's driving me mad, won't even go to the toilet broad daylight anymore. She wanted her step tonight from next tonight in the toilet but wouldn't get it herself. The bloody hall light was on and it is two steps into the bathroom, I even stood behind her and she still wouldn't go in, honestly it was a foot away.

I'm hoping it's just a phase!? I don't really understand autism to be honest, but she hasn't shown any signs at all of any learning difficulties, and is doing everything she should be doing for her age at pre-school?

My dd had a period of this just after she started school, she became scared of lifts, doing anything out of the ordinary, stopped going to her dance class (which she previously loved), we really had to ride the storm and give her lots of reassurance and push her to do one or two things a week out of her comfort zone and she's now 6 and so so much better. Goes to looks of extra curricular activities, takes part in everything and anything at school etc.... I'm not saying this will be the same for ur little one and of course if it's autism that's totally different. Just for my dd starting school and all the change that bought with it seemed to trigger a lot of insecurities. Hope that helps x
